The photographer Raphael Albert (1935-2009) established himself as a cultural promoter and photographer of black beauty pageants in West London between the late 1960's and 1980's. His archive documenting popular community events as well as his collection of model portfolios has allowed for a both extensive and detailed exhibition, which celebrates a community often overlooked within mainstream fashion and culture.

The Dennis Hopper Retrospective at The Royal Academy, London

During my stop over in London I had just enough time to stop by Dennis Hopper’s retrospective in the Burlington Gardens wing of the Royal Academy.  I must begin by admitting that in this rare instance it was not my own initiative, but that of a friend, which lured me in. Surprisingly, it was rather refreshing to enter an exhibition without any prior experience of the work, surrendering myself to the guidance of fans of Hopper's films.
